If someone knows Socrates on here, he used to have doubles, the one he bought from me and the upgrade. The one I sold him was NM except one disk which was VG+. CD only Cosmo? I have a tape of it. Peace T.N.

Re: Will drop loot for Stark Reality
W-o-w, didn't see that coming, and no, I shan't be sending tape for CDR distribution. One should really buy it if they want it, OG or reish, regardless of ST missing tracks.
Monty doesn't like me or the fact that I didn't like the LP too much, so cathartic epithets should've been expected I guess.

Re: Will drop loot for Stark Reality
full monty, you still have copies left? out of interest, were you able to cash in on the hefty price tags they fetch? before the recent stark reality renaissance, did you have digger dealer dudes callin you up saying, "sir, the record youmade was very important in my formative years and i wanted to give it out at my 40th birthday. can i buy 20 copies off you for $10 each" or something to that effect? what was it like realizing that the record was so expensive? or did you always know?
just interested about your exposure to the unscrupulous world of record dealers. understand if its personal. i wish i had given you the money i spent on that record.
and as alway, thanks for the music

I'm sorry Monty! I was not intending to start a boot-legging ring. And, yes, I've purchased both reissues at full retail price. Sorry!

Re: Will drop loot for Stark Reality
yeah Monty, Tony brought up some really valid and serious points. it's a fucking shame that these sharks sell a record based on the rarity i guess... i mean, when Tony Tripledouble played me the Stark Reality Hoagy jawn... i swear that in that little room my mind expanded (Tony i never told you that.)
if i had $500 to spend on that record i would, no question. but i have to make sure my wifey has her health insurance paid for. so these record dealing fucks are holding my hostage from listening to something that really MEANS SOMETHING TO ME. i swear in listening to that record i thought i was 6 years old again.
fucking bastards. Monty, nuff respect for real my brother.

that's Vic Caesar - i like that picture -- he was a friend and i produced a cd of him singing standards with Jessica Williams playing piano -- the cd actually uses artwork (not that pic)

Re: Will drop loot for Stark Reality
heh... one of my favorites from Volume 11 - Soulman's World Of Beats: The New Adventures"
October 1, 2000
THE REAL DEAL ON HOW AZMATIK SNARED THAT STARK REALITY OFF OF EBAY Man, in short, no one was bidding on it and I offered to buy it. On top of that, many cats probably overlooked it 'cuz they search for "Stark Reality" & "Skull Snaps" everyday. You gotta have a little bit of tactics online, too, and know what you're looking for. I typed in a search for "WGBH" which is closer to what it was listed under. WGBH is that public station who produced the children's shows & stuff. Next thing you know it popped up & only one other person had put a bid which was mad low. And I don't think he was even a break collectin' type guy. I inquired on the record's condition & authenticity, then made an offer to pay for it up front so as to not drag on the auction since no one was bidding on it. The guy said it would be okay as long as no more bids came in from then till the time he ends the auction. Well, no one else bid so I guess it must have been a sleeper- ha ha ha. He didn't have to end the auction, he could've let it go, or taken my money & kept the auction going. Plus I wasn't even approaching it as a break record, I was interested in children's records so my intentions appeared genuine. But for those who wanna slash my tires 'cuz they think I got it for $11... the final price with shipping and insurance and all was actually closer to $100. So it wasn't the eleven bucks everyone is bugging out on. Still though, Stark Reality for $100 to me is a steal. 'Specially since it sells for upwards of $500 elsewhere. I don't think it's worth $500... $487.50 maybe, but not $500. There's prolly more copies of this waiting to surface & with my luck some fuck head will re-issue it & kill the prestige of having it.

I knew that dude Azmatik. That stark reality was up there and I was sniping it and of course he ends early! I never thought of asking someone to end it early or that copy would be mine!

no, i haven't owned a copy since 1970 - all i had were fond memories and some old photos... i knew nothing about the Say Brother revival in the UK, nor the beat-diggers fascination with the Hoagy shit... until Eothen "Egon" Alapatt phoned me in January of 2002

hearing this kid, egon, telling me more about me than i knew myself was a nice trip
